Chris Weitz will not direct Breaking Dawn
Posted by Ella 6 months ago

Although there is no official word on Breaking Dawn yet (still!?), it’s pretty much guaranteed to happen. We don’t know if it’ll be one or two movies, who will star in it (although the big three and others have been told to keep their diaries clear for later this year) or where it will be filmed. But one thing we do know now is that The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz will not be a part of it. After millions of fans started a campaign to get him on board, it has now been confirmed that he will not be directing The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – part one or two.
Back when rumours were flying that Breaking Dawn had been confirmed as two movies, Summit released a statement stating that: “No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.” Reports even told how Rob, Kristen and Taylor had personally written to Summit to ask for Chris’s return to the franchise. However that was almost a month ago and the first big bit of news concerning the movie has finally come in the form of Chris Weitz confirming he will not be directing. He told Gossip Cop that he would not be helming Breaking Dawn, much to the fans disappointment, but that Summit were looking at “top-tier directors” for the project.
Many of the stars of The Twilight Saga have been expressing who they would choose to direct the film including odd picks like Rob Zombie and Tim Burton. With the release of Eclipse creeping ever closer, fans are eager to see the trailer – which will début in showings of Rob’s film Remember Me (due for US release 12th March.) Who do you think would be a good match to direct Breaking Dawn?
