New Moon DVD outsells Twilight

Wow – how incredible is this? Give yourselves a round of applause Twifans as it’s been announced by Summit Entertainment that the New Moon DVD sold more than 4 million copies this past weekend in the States. That’s .2million more than Twilight! How amazing is that? Especially since Twilight went on to become 2009’s biggest selling DVD shifting 9.2million copies. Will New Moon beat this as well?

Summit’s co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger said:

Once again the incredibly dedicated fans of the TWILIGHT SAGA came out in massive numbers this weekend for the opportunity to be one of the first take home the second movie in the series. As we have said all along, the fans are what make this franchise and we once again thank them for their support.

Aww shucks, it’s nothing. For us in the UK, we had to wait an extra two days to get the DVD with stores opening early on Monday morning to let us get our mitts on it, but I expect the sales figures here to be pretty impressive too. With Avatar out next month, New Moon probably won’t be the biggest seller of the year but we’ll give those blue aliens a run for their money!
