Twilight Lexicon launches Face Punch trailer contest

When Edward (Robert Pattinson) leaves Bella (Kristen Stewart) in New Moon it’s fair to say she’s heartbroken. But unlike most teenage girls who’ve been dumped she doesn’t opt for a rom-com and a big tub of Ben and Jerry’s, nope, she goes on a date (if you can call it that) with Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Mike (Michael Welch). And what film do they choose to see? Face Punch, obviously. If you’ve ever wished you were sitting in that movie theatre with them (probably next to Jacob) then this competition might be for you. Twilight Lexicon are running a contest to see who can create the best trailer for Face Punch, and the top three will win some awesome prizes. Click over to find out more.

When Chris Weitz was coming up with a name for the movie that the threesome go see in New Moon, he had some pretty ridiculous suggestions (‘Crazy Explosion’). He said: “It was hard to arrive at [‘Face Punch’]; I made up 10 titles for action movies, and eight of them didn’t clear because they had already been used! I was trying to make up the stupidest titles possible, but they had been made.” So it ended up as Face Punch, and now is your chance to interpret that title however you wish. Here’s everything you need to know about how to enter:

1. The video must be between one minute and two and a half minutes in length. Any video longer than two minutes and thirty seconds will be disqualified.
2. The video should resemble traditional trailers of various scenes and not be one long, continuous scene.
3. The video can use dialogue and references from The Twilight Saga: New Moon but it cannot be the actual recorded sound from the film.
4. The video must be posted on YouTube on your own channel. We will not host your video for you.
5. You must send us a link to your YouTube video to facepunchcontest@gmail.com.
6. You must send us your video information by May 5, 2010. Winners will be announced May 7, 2010.
